Reel Life Video Series: Episode Four

On episode four of our Sanctuary Tails blog video series, Reel Life at Farm Sanctuary, California Shelter Director Leanne Cronquist talks about hay and demonstrates how this nutritious food is distributed around the shelter. Catch a glimpse of two of our newest rescued calves, Elliot and Oliver, and see an excited herd of goats (and a few sheep) spring into action for their favorite delivery of the day.

Animal Photo of the Week: Noel

 

After pulling over a car that cut him off on the road, a patrol officer with the Morgan Hill, California Police Department heard what he thought was the sound of a baby crying coming from the trunk. Shockingly, upon looking inside, he found a small black and white goat who had been hog-tied, but was still alive and struggling for freedom. A little later, he discovered that the goat had been there for two days without any food and water, let alone adequate air to breathe, and called on local Animal Control for help. From there, the little goat, now named Noel, found refuge at our California Shelter. Read more about this sweet boy’s rescue and recovery at Farm Sanctuary.

This sweet Animal Photo of the Week features the incredible Riley! Found at a New York stockyard, where he was on the verge of death, this little piglet was scooped up by our Emergency Rescue Team just in time and has since found refuge at our New York Shelter. If it weren’t for member support of our Emergency Rescue Fund, Riley’s rescue and recovery would not have been possible. But thanks to the generous contributions we received from people like you, this tiny piglet will now know nothing but loving hands for the rest of his days. Rescued from a factory farm when he was just a tiny piglet, Andy narrowly avoided a sad fate and instead found refuge at our New York Shelter. Years later, this dynamic young pig has made quite a different life for himself, making lots of good friends and reveling in even the simplest pleasures. Naturally, we couldn’t resist sharing this delightful photo with you of Andy munching on some leftover pumpkins from our Celebration FOR the Turkeys. The joy in his face couldn’t be more palpable – and is a true testament to the depth of emotion that all animals possess. We hope it brightens your day as much as it did ours!
