Animal Photo of the Week: Olivia

 

This little cutie is Olivia. Abandoned at the lake across the street from our California Shelter, she and three other ducks showed up at our front gate in the spring of 2007. Knowing that these domestic ducks weren’t meant to live on their own in the wild, our staff quickly rounded them up and gave them a home at Farm Sanctuary, where they’ve been safe and sound ever since. While still friends with all the ducks she arrived with, Olivia is closest of all with her best friend Darla. These two can often be found sitting on the edge of the pond or nesting in secretive spots amidst the bushes, grass and weeds on the shore. No life could be more perfect for a duck and there’s no doubt that Olivia takes full advantage of each and every day!
