Abandoned at a county fairground following a 4-H fair, Spring and several other geese were left to fend off feral dogs, inclement weather and oncoming traffic. Those who survived are now safe as can be at our California sanctuary — and they’re just as excited as we are that the seasons are changing. In the early morning, when the doors of the duck and goose hutches are opened, Spring and her friends scramble down to a giant pond to splash and swim, their jubilant honking audible from a distance.
Come celebrate spring with all of us here at Farm Sanctuary! Our New York Shelter opens for visitors May 1, and our California Shelter opens May 8.
This really is a perfect picture of Spring - both the season and the goose.
I have always had a soft spot for geese.

As a professional photographer, and lover of all animals I really want to come and photograph the beautiful animals on the farm.
